About Me
I am a seasoned and mature Family Physician professional with a passion for entrepreneurship, growing relationships, serving the needs of others, with a commitment to embracing principles which bring people together. Throughout my career, I have sought to value others, add value to them, and give more than I receive. As a Family Doctor, I learned the importance of fostering relationships built on trust and honor. I believe in the power of unconditional giving and strive to approach every interaction with a mindset of generosity and empathy. In my pursuit of achieving people excellence, I look forward to creating winning engagements where everyone involved feels valued and empowered. I strive to treat each person with kindness, compassion, and respect with the desire to elevate those around me and create a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.
My Story
As a native of Washington, DC and raised in Maryland I developed a deep commitment to
serving the community with compassion. Now settled in North Carolina, as an independent
rural doctor I look forward to caring for our patients and unfortunately several members of the
community often face barriers accessing healthcare and struggle to achieve desired dreams.
Driven by a vision to enact meaningful change, I became actively involved in both the state and
federal level advocacy work, tirelessly championing policies that prioritize patient well-being and
equitable healthcare access. The invaluable strategy of collaboration with fellow physicians to
shape healthcare policy, while ensuring that the voices of Family Physicians are at the table, was
key to affecting change in the community.
As a private practice physician, navigating the challenges of the evolving healthcare payment
landscape is successful with resilience and innovation. Leveraging data and technology as an early
adopter of electronic health records while embracing innovative tools for patient care and business
management, was effective to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a complex healthcare
environment. I continue to embody the spirit of advocacy, leadership, and innovation, dedicated to
making a difference in the lives of our patients and community.
Outside of my day job, I experienced excitement exploring the beauty of the world with travel
beyond North American continent. It was a dream come true to visit the Egyptian Pyramids, riding a
camel alongside the Nile, and watching crocodiles emerge from the murky waters commanding the
attention of all who were nearby. Witnessing the surprise spectacular flight of the doves
while standing in Vatican Square in Rome, exploring the treasured work of renowned artist
on display at the Louvre in Paris, and admiring the amazing Tevi Fountain are fond memories. We
tasted sweet wines of Italy, Germany, and the French provincial and relished the delightful foods of
Sicily which was representative of the historical ancient peninsula. A cherished highlight in another
land was the white coat ceremony in Antigua allowing handshakes with soon to be doctors who
came from countries I only knew of but never visited. The cultural lesson learned from a simple
handshake was mind boggling. Global travels just days before the realization of Covid permitted
connecting with Family Physician colleagues in Kinston, Jamaica, before travelling to the mountains
of Negril for volunteer mission work supported by the Jesuit Priests. My heart warms when local and
international opportunities arise to exchange the gift of humility and hospitality sharing with other
people who also inspire the belief “to be the change you want to see” while growing spiritually to
serve others.
